The Executive Board is made up of eleven voting executive directors. Eight executive directors (at least four of whom are Africans) are appointed in their personal capacity. The other three members represent the Foundation’s sponsoring agencies (the African Development Bank, the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme). The Executive Secretary of the Foundation is a non-voting member. The Executive Board is charged with responsibility for operational policies, guidelines and strategies and appointment of the Executive Secretary. The Executive directors are appointed for a maximum of two three-year terms, while the Executive Secretary is appointed for a maximum of two four-year terms.
