Dr. Frannie Leautier delivers Commencement Speech at North Central College, USA and receives an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters

Graduates, I want to congratulate you, but also the many people who supported you in your life journey to this point—parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles, family and friends. We have a proverb in Africa that says “The lizard that jumped from the high iroko tree to the ground said he would praise himself if no one else did”. So praise yourself and give yourselves a round of applause and another round to all those who have supported you along the way.
