OUR MISSION

The Resource Mobilization Unit is the fundraising and partnership arm of The African Capacity Building Foundation ACBF. Its mission is to secure the funding necessary to the future activities of the Foundation and to develop relationships with ACBF’s donor community.

WHY SUPPORT THE AFRICAN CAPACITY BUILDING FOUNDATION

  • Building more just and sustainable societies in Africa is a long-term process. Over the past decades, the effectiveness of Development Aid has been steady.
  • A major leverage to reverse this trend, as identified by our funders, is the enhancement of indigenous institutional and human capacity. Indeed, formulation, implementation and monitoring of effective policies are critical in order to address the multiple challenges faced by African countries.
  • This is why the Foundation supports public institutions, policy units (think tanks) and the civil society in the 44 countries where we operate, interfacing between state and non-state actors to infuse a sense of dialogue, accountability and ownership.
  • Guided by the conviction that building capacity will help reduce poverty, the Foundation has benefited more than 3,000 public servants over the last 19 years, allowing them to improve their skills and perform in the delivery of better policies.
  • The pursuit of ACBF's mission means continuous learning and improvement of the Foundation's performance. As an independent grant making institution, the African Capacity Building Foundation relies on its contributors in order to fund ambitious and effective initiatives.
  • Since its creation, ACBF has supported a total of 246 programs and projects in some 44 sub-Saharan African countries and committed more than US$ 400 million to capacity building. But there is still much more to achieve.
  • Help develop sustainable institutional and human capacity for poverty reduction in Africa.
