27th Annual Meeting of The Board of Governors of The African Capacity Building Foundation

The African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) will hold the 27th Annual Meeting of its Board of Governors (BoG) between 19 and 20 July, 2018 in Yaoundé (Cameroon) under the theme “Youth employment in Africa: A Focus on Developing the Critical Skills.”

The meeting will gather Finance and Economic Panning Ministers from its member states as well as representatives from the ACBF’s multi-lateral partners; The World Bank, Afrexim Bank, Bill&Melinda Gates Foundation, The African Development Bank and Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA).

On the sidelines of the 2018 BoG Meeting and as a key component of the gathering, ACBF will organize a High-Level Forum to share experience and knowledge on the various strategies and innovations aimed at tackling youth unemployment, highlighting the good practices and lessons learned especially in developing critical technical skills required for the effective flight against youth unemployment in Africa. The specific objectives include the following:

• share experience and knowledge on the various strategies and innovations aimed at tackling youth unemployment, highlighting the good practices and lessons learned;

• highlight the critical skills and capacities needed to address youth unemployment issues; and

• provide actionable recommendations and innovative solutions on how best African countries can develop the required critical skills to tackle youth unemployment.

ACBF has been granted the status of a specialized agency because of the potential to transform Africa through capacity development.

The recognition of ACBF as the African Union’s Specialized Agency for Capacity Development launches the beginning of a new era for capacity building by ACBF, which will require an appropriate level of political commitment and financial support from all stakeholders.
