    The African Finance Association Conference is the most prominent academic finance gathering on the continent and the event brings together practitioners and academics throughout Africa and beyond to discuss emerging research of interest to Africa.

    The emphasis of the conference will be on high-quality, theoretical and/or applied research focusing on issues relevant to emerging trends in accounting, finance and economics which have special relevance to Africa’s development.

    Prof. Emanuel Nnadozie will give the Keynote Address.

    The conference will take place on the 17-18 May 2017 at The Elephant Hills Hotel in Zimbabwe.

    The Executive Secretary will be attending the annual Ibrahim Governance Weekend, which is the flagship event of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, held every year in a different African capital city.

    This three day event convenes prominent African and Africa-focused political and business leaders, representatives from civil society, multilateral and regional institutions as well as Africa’s major international partners to identify specific policy challenges and discuss priorities for action.

    The conversation is extended to a wider audience through music, art and sport at major public events showcasing some of Africa’s brightest talent.

    A whole day is dedicated to the Ibrahim Forum where a key issue for Africa is discussed and specific policy challenges and priorities for action identified. A comprehensive Facts & Figures research document is compiled in advance by the Foundation as the basis for an informed and constructive debate.

    The Fourth Africa Think Tank Summit will take forward the work and outcomes of past Summits and go into more details on how the think tanks can support Africa’s development agenda. Specifically, the 4th Summit will come up with strategies and actionable recommendations for think tanks to meaningfully contribute to the promotion of industrialization within the context of Africa’s vision as reflected in Agenda 2063 and the global Agenda 2030 (Sustainable Development Goals).

    In December 2016, ACBF granted The Aurum Institute USD 470 300-00  under the BMGF capacity building initiative for high-performing African organizations. Aurum is a not-for-profit South African organization whose overall objective is focused on researching, monitoring, training, treating and managing HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis (TB) throughout Southern Africa. Aurum works alongside government, the mining industry, among NGO’s and in communities.

    Aurum is launching an enterprise-grade Virtual Presence Platform (VPP) across its major geographical sites to make training more efficient. The aim of the VPP is also to leverage the platform to deliver a leadership, management and quality improvement training program.

    Professor Emmanuel Nnadozie will cut the ribbon to formally launch the platform.

The recognition of ACBF as the African Union’s Specialized Agency for Capacity Development launches the beginning of a new era for capacity building by ACBF, which will require an appropriate level of political commitment and financial support from all stakeholders.
