ACBF Survey

Welcome to African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) Survey

Thank you for your time for this all-important survey for Africa. We have got your contacts from ACBF's database of people who in one way or another participated in or benefited from ACBF and its partners' activities. This is meant to reach out to individuals for feedback and views which can shed light on capacity needs, challenges, and strategies.
The African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) was established in 1991 by African Governments and their Development Partners to help build sustainable human and institutional capacity for good governance and development in Africa. To date ACBF has built the capacity for and empowered governments, parliaments, civic society, private sector, think tanks, and higher education institutions. However the development landscape keeps changing and requiring new strategies for capacity imperatives, and ACBF would therefore like to conduct a survey among African citizens and other stakeholders to shed light on capacity challenges, needs and strategies.

You are thus invited to participate in this online survey on Satisfaction of Knowledge / Research / Policy Products, Citizens’ Involvement and Perceptions of Civil Society Organizations Involvement in National Development Processes in Africa. Your participation in this survey is much needed but remains voluntary. Your responses will help ACBF and Africa learn about what needs to be done more in terms of developing capacity needed for Africa's transformations. There are no foreseeable risks involved in participating in this survey.

Your survey responses will be sent in a password protected electronic format. The electronic system used does not collect personally identifying information, email address, or IP address. Therefore, your responses will remain strictly confidential and anonymous. At the end of the questionnaire you will be asked if you are interested in receiving the survey report via email. If you so choose to provide your email address at the end of the questionnaire, your email will be known to the researcher but it will not be included in any analysis, publications or presentations.

If you have concerns or questions at any time about this study, you may contact the lead evaluator on this study, Dr. Jean Providence Nzabonimpa via phone at 263772185308-10 Ext. 289 or email at

Do you voluntarily consent to participate? If so, please proceed. Thank you!

ACBF has been granted the status of a specialized agency because of the potential to transform Africa through capacity development.

Erastus Mwencha

The recognition of ACBF as the African Union’s Specialized Agency for Capacity Development launches the beginning of a new era for capacity building by ACBF, which will require an appropriate level of political commitment and financial support from all stakeholders.

H.E. Erastus Mwencha, Chair, ACBF Executive Board
Lamin Momodou

The remarkable achievements ACBF has registered over the past 26 years is not by accident in our opinion. They have come through hard work, dedication, commitment, purposeful leadership, support from the member countries as well as productive partnership building.

Mr. Lamin Momodou MANNEH, Director, UNDP Regional Service Centre for Africa
Goodall Gondwe

Africa needs ACBF as much, probably more now, than at the time it was created in 1991.

Hon. Goodall Gondwe, former Chair of the ACBF Board of Governors and Minister of Finance – Malawi
Ken Ofori Atta

Ghana’s partnership with ACBF is a tremendous blessing for us and therefore the opportunity for Ghana to host the 26th ACBF Board of Governors Meeting is something that we treasure.
