ACBF’s partnership with São Tome and Principe started in 2000, when the ACBF Executive Board approvedtwo projects: the “Projet de Renforcement des Capacités de Lutte contre la Pauvreté”(PRECASP) and “Projet d’Appui au Point Focal pour le Renforcement des Capacités”.The Government of STP requested support to build andstrengthen the capacity of its institutions in macroeconomic and developmentmanagement in order to consolidate on-going reform processes and to improvegovernance.

The project objective was toenhance economic governancethrough effective macroeconomic policy analysis and management and through itspublic review and oversight. The specific objectives were to build or strengthen the analytical and management capacities for economicand policy analysis within the Ministry of Planning and Finance; to build/ strengthen the capacity of the National Assembly to properly fulfill its review, oversight and accountability functions on matters of economicpolicies, and to improve public access to economic policy information and advice.
