The project was designed to identify capacity gaps in the National Statistical System (NSS) and consistently resolve them, in part, by coordinating the efforts of all stakeholders working in the area of statistical development. In December 2005, the Executive Board approved a grant of US$ 1.2 million for the Statistical Capacity Building Project in Malawi.
The overall goal of the project was the transformation of the National Statistical System and office in Malawi in order for it to provide support to policy development and management.
